A poster for the 'Water Cellar for Mothers' photography and painting contest [gmw.cn]

The 'Water Cellar for Mothers' photography and painting contest concluded with a 'Water Cellar for Mothers' image public welfare activity held in Kaili City, southwest China’s Guizhou Province, on July 17, 2017.

Jointly organized by the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) and Gmw.cn, the 'Water Cellar for Mothers – Stories Between Water and Me' photography and painting contest aimed to enhance public awareness of water saving and promote the development, use, protection and management of water resources.

The contest, which was held from March 22 to June 30, collected 1,909 photography works and 1,335 paintings in total.

In early July, the jury selected the three best photography works, along with 10 excellent works and 20 honorable works, while for paintings, the middle school category and primary school category had three best painting works, five excellent paintings and 10 honorable paintings respectively.


President of the CWDF Huang Qingyi attended the image public welfare activity. Dozens of celebrities, including Kris Phillips, Johnny Jiang and Edell, sang songs for more than 4,000 audiences on the spot to call for charitable people to help poverty-stricken areas ease water shortages and promote the idea of water conservation.

The 'Water Cellar for Mothers' is a centralized charity water supply project, co-launched by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and the CWDF, that has been active since 2001, and which focuses on helping people in China's western region, especially women, to alleviate poverty caused by severe water shortages.
