A project to build sanitary toilets in a rural primary school in north China's Hebei Province was completed on September 2, 2013.

The 'LG Chem Loving Wash Room' project was sponsored by LG Chem, Ltd. (China) and China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF). The project was carried out at Gucheng Town Central Primary School of Hengshui City, Hebei Province. Secretary of the CWDF Qin Guoying, President of LG Chem, Ltd (China) Piao Yingpei and municipal- and county-level leaders of Hengshui City attended the celebration for the completion of the project.

The Rural Schools' Bath Room Remodeling Project is part of the School Safe Drinking Water Project that is in turn administered under the Water Cellar for Mothers Project. The overall aim is to improve the safety of drinking water and sanitation levels in rural schools. Schools are equipped with water disinfection equipment and sanitary toilets. Health education activities are also held to help raise the students' health and hygiene awareness.

A project fund of two billion yuan (US$ 3.27 million) has been set up to help 101 schools in 11 provinces and autonomous regions by the end of 2012, benefiting 65,000 teachers and students.

With 22 teachers and 453 students, the Gucheng Town Central Primary School used to have a public pit latrine that was unhygienic. The school has now been equipped with sanitary flush toilets.
