Charitable artists donated their artworks and collections at a charity event to raise funds for the Water Cellar for Mothers project, which works to improve the lives of poverty-stricken women in China's western regions.

The event was hosted by the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) in Beijing on August 15, 2013.

Secretary General of the CWDF Qin Guoying gave a speech at the party, thanking all those present for the support.

A family member of famous actress Siqin Gaowa represented her in donating her embroidery collection to the CWDF. Former Executive Deputy Director of China's Ministry of Culture Gao Zhanxiang made a congratulatory call and donated his calligraphy collection. Well-known painter Zhang Huicheng appealed to more artists to take part in social charity activities.

About 100 artworks were created at the party and all were donated to the CWDF. Proceeds from auctioning off the artworks will be used to support the implementation of the project.

Jointly launched by the All-China Women's Federation and CWDF in 2001, the project aims to help poverty-stricken residents, especially women, in central and western regions of China solve their water shortage problems and shake off poverty.
