The Beibei District Women's Federation in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality launched a series of activities under the Water Cellar for Mothers Project to promote safe drinking water knowledge, health knowledge and family education in communities and schools.

The federation and Beibei district committee launched a two-month education tour to help improve family education levels and teenagers' growth. The tour will cover 17 towns and 17 villages.

The federation also launched an activity in Tianma Village to strengthen rural women's health knowledge. A total of 100 Rural Safe Drinking Water Leaflets were handed out at the activity.

The federation and Liuyin Town government jointly launched a school safe drinking water activity in Mingtong Primary School in Liuyin Town to help the children develop good hygiene habits and encourage them to protect the environment.

The Water Cellar for Mothers Project was launched in 2001 by the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) under the guidance of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) to help people, especially women, in the arid areas of western China to shake off poverty caused by water shortages.
