The Water Cellar for Mothers China Tour set off this afternoon from the Chinese Museum of Women and Children in Beijing.

Ten-year-old image ambassador of the China Women's Development Foundation Water Cellar for Mothers Project and songstress on China's first children's charity-themed album Dou Dou attended the launch ceremony in supporting the Water Cellar for Mothers Project, and to make official Beijing as the first stop on the Water Cellar for Mothers China Tour.

Dou Dou's teacher and famous artist Wang Kun, also present at the activity, was awarded the title Water Cellar for Mothers lifelong Honorary Ambassador. 

The team who produced the charity-themed album also attended.

Wang Kun and Dou Dou performed a duet of charity songs, calling for help from all quarters of society to ease water shortages suffered in China's Western regions.

Dou Dou announced that she will sponsor three impoverished children by donating her pocket money and red packet treats that she gets on birthdays and at Lunar New Year towards their school fees.

Dou Dou sang several songs from the charity-themed album and dedicated "Come on" to the people of mud-slide stricken Zhouqu.

Sales of 20 copies of China's first children's charity-themed album would raise the 1,000 yuan (US$ 147) necessary to build one water cellar.

Former Vice-President and First Member of the All-China Women's Federation and Director of China Women's Development Foundation Huang Qingyi, Vice-President, Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF and Deputy Director of China Women's Development Foundation Zhen Yan, Secretary General of China Women's Development Foundation Qin Guoying and relevant leaders ceremoniously unveiled with Dou Dou the Water Cellar of Mothers China Tour route map.

Since China's first children's charity-themed album was released on July 11 in Shenzhen it has raised more than 850,000 yuan (US$ 125,000) for the Water Cellar for Mothers Project.

The four stops of the Water Cellar For Mothers China Tour are Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

After leaving Beijing image ambassador Dou Dou will go on to South China's most economically developed regions to solicit more help for the Water Cellar for Mothers Project.

The grand tour will also hold publicity campaigns in Shanghai in October and in Hong Kong in November.
