The China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) sent 45 mobile clinics from Beijing to five provinces and regions in western China on December 2, 2014.

Donated by the China Construction Bank (CCB) to the CWDF's "Health Express for Mothers" project, the mobile clinics are installed in vans and are worth a total of 7 million yuan (U.S. $1.1 million).

Since its launch in 2003 with the mission of improving the health of women and children in rural areas, the "Health Express for Mothers" project has dispatched 2,124 mobile clinics to 1,500 counties of 30 provinces, municipalities and regions across China, benefiting over 50 million women and children.

As one of the leading state-owned banks in China, the CCB began cooperating with the CWDF on the implementation of the "Health Express for Mothers" project in 2007. As of January 2014, the CCB had donated more than 65 million yuan (U.S. $10.6 million) to the CWDF.

To reward the CCB for its generosity, the CWDF printed the bank's name on 101 mobile clinics — purchased with the bank's donation — and spread them out across seven provinces and regions.

At the dispatch ceremony, CWDF President Huang Qingyi praised the CCB for its long-term charitable contributions to and support for the disadvantaged groups.

"Women's health is critical to family happiness, the future of our nation and the development and harmony of our society," said Huang in her speech. "The Party and the government have long attached great importance to the health of women and children."

As part of its social- and economic-development blueprint from 2011–2015, the Chinese Government made significant contributions toward women's health objectives. In the National Program for Women's Development (2011–2020), the government makes women's health a top priority, to empower women.

"Displaying its generosity and care once again, the CCB is continues to play a positive role in helping women enjoy their rights," said Huang.

As a charity organization targeting women and families in China, the CWDF, over the past 20 years, has been exploring methods of empowering women and promoting their development. To date, its diversified services for women and children have developed into several branded initiatives, including "Water Cellar for Mothers," "Health Express for Mothers" and "Postal Parcels for Mothers."

The initiatives aim to help women shake off poverty by providing them with easier access to clean water as well as medical and postal resources. Over the years, the initiatives have been honored at the China Charity Awards — China's national charity awards, held annually to recognize charity organizations and the significant contributions they make through their programs.
