China Women’s Development Foundation (CWDF), China Association of Marriage and Family (CAMF), and Heung Kong Charitable Foundation jointly launched the China Marriage and Family Study Fund at a ceremony in Beijing on December 19, 2015.
The newly founded fund aimed to provide financial assistance to domestic organizations and individuals in the academic study of marriage and family affairs as well as relevant legal issues.
“The fund will better implement the ‘Rule of Law’ principle, which was officially introduced by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), in its efforts to make an improvement of existing Chinese laws on marriage and family on the basis of new social conditions,” said Chairperson of the CAMF Zhen Yan, who was also deputy-director of the Subcommittee of Social and Legal Affairs under the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), at the ceremony.
For her part, Secretary-General of the CWDF Qin Guoying said domestic universities, professional institutes and individuals can submit their applications for financial assistance to the fund’s organizers in their future academic studies concerning the affairs of marriage and family, adding that successful applicants would receive further assistance from CWDF in their research tours across the entire country.Vice-Chairperson of the CAMF Jiang Yue’e, who was former director of the Department on the Protection of Women and Children’s Rights in All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF), presided over the launch ceremony.
