CWDF Opens Fund for Female Practitioners in Tourism

  China Women Tourism Committee (CWTC) and Shenzhen Zhinuo Investment jointly set up Tourism Education Fund of China Women’s Development Foundation (CWDF) in Beijing on December 6, 2014.
  With an initial investment of one million yuan (U.S.$ 152,000) provided by Shenzhen Zhinuo, the fund aimed to further enhance professional competence among domestic women engaged in the tourism industry, help more women find employment, and provide the impoverished with guidance in the improvement of livelihoods.
  At the launch ceremony, Deputy-Director of the Subcommittee of Social and Legal Affairs under the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Vice-Chairperson of CWDF Zhen Yan, who was also former vice-president and member of the Secretariat of All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF), said that the newly set fund would focus assistance on the improvement of competence among women involved in tourism, and create a platform for charity organizations, enterprises and professional associations to better assist female beneficiaries.
  For her part, Executive Chairperson of the CWTC Xiong Yumei made a brief introduction of the fund and its focus in the next year. She said it would hold fund-raising events and distribute financial assistance amongst beneficiaries during 2015.
  After the launch ceremony, the first batch of trainees from Liping and Congjiang counties in south China’s Guizhou Province were assisted to attend a training session conducive to the improvement of professional competence.
        Those present at the launch included Liu Shijun, chairperson of the China Tourism Association (CTA); Ye Liyan, chairperson of CWTC; Luo Jie, member of the Board of Directors of Shenzhen Zhinuo; and Nan Jing, assistant to the secretary-general of CWDF.
