A training session to promote technical competence among female rural migrants engaged in the hotel service was officially launched by the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) in Chengdu, capital of southwest China’s Sichuan Province, on October 16, 2014.

During the event, organizers invited professionals to lecture attendees about beefing up their service quality, increase management capacity, and strengthen competitiveness in the market.

Organizers planned to train at least 800 target rural women in separate rounds till April 2015. In addition, trainees were given access to online training initiatives.

The latest training event was financed by the Diageo Empowerment of Women’s Rights Fund, which was established by British Diageo Corporation and the CWDF in June 2013 and aimed to provide Chinese women with technical training for career growth. The alcohol beverage producer pledged one million yuan (U.S.$ 154,000) to the fund per year in the next five years, tentatively benefitting about 100,000 women.
