China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is the largest offshore oil and gas producer in China. For a long time, CNOOC has worked with the Water Cellars for Mothers Project to promote access to clean water and boost local agricultural irrigation as well as animal husbandry.
In the first month of their cooperation, employees of CNOOC raised 0.6 million yuan (U.S.$92,340) in donations in a month. Thereafter, CNOOC has donated 12.8 million yuan (U.S.$ 2 million) and built 6,278 wells, assisting over 43,800 people in four provinces.
Moreover, donation boxes provided by CNOOC were placed in supermarkets, cell phone stores and hotels to raise social awareness and offer an outlet for personal donations.  Employees of CNOOC also began actively advertising the Water Cellar for Mothers project  through theatrical performances.
In 2012, CNOOC became an official strategic partner of the project.
