The China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF) held a conference from August 1-2 in Beijing to summarize an annual project designed to fund charity schemes initiated by females.

By linking resources, organizing training and communication activities, as well as offering financial and technical support, the Chao Ren (Super Benevolent) Mom Charity Assistance Program – started by the CWDF in 2016 – aims to promote the development of small and medium-sized charity organizations run by women.

So far, the project has collected over 7 million yuan (U.S.$ 1,044,776) from over 330,000 donors and attracted more than 100 charity organizations to take part.

Leaders from over 50 non-profit public welfare organizations run by women attended.

During the event, former table-tennis Olympic champion Deng Yaping was named a public ambassador of the project.

The CWDF presented 20 Innovation Awards and 15 Fund-raising Awards to outstanding participants.

L'ORÉAL (China) sponsored the Innovation Awards to fund the implementation of awarded schemes.

Moreover, a representative from the company spoke on the topic of Mutual Effects between Innovative Ideas and Women's Leadership.

A representative from gongyi.net, a charity fundraising website run by Tencent, shared with scheme initiators how to promote charity projects using internet technologies.

Zhang Jianmin, deputy secretary-general of the CWDF, delivered a speech.

Zhang said: "As China's largest charity organization run by women, it's our duty to lead the power of women and help more females realize their dreams in the charity field, to let more underprivileged groups get care and assistance."

At the end of the event, organizers unveiled the nameplate of the Chao Ren Mom Charity Workshop which received support from many charitable enterprises.

The workshop will continue to link more resources for schemes initiators and promote capabilities of charity organizations through a model featuring "cooperation, share and double win", according to a spokesperson.

Senior officials Meng Xiaosi, president of the CWDF; and Zhen Yan, vice-president of the CWDF, also attended the conference.
